Canton of Zug,  September 27, 2001 Memorial
The Canton of Zug sponsored a design competition for a memorial which would be dedicated to the victims of the assassinations which took place on September 27, 2001 at the town's government building. Caroline Flueler was invited to participate and joined in with her business partners André Schweiger and Patrick Lindon. The task was to conceive a discreet, empathetic and modest memorial.
Their Solutions was to transpose an incision – implying the tragic lost to the victims' families, the reality which the survivors were then forced to face following the incident, as well as addressing the sensitive nature of the issue to the public. The materials used, gravel, glass and shrubbery, as well as the soft luminescence of the lighting emphasize the somber intensity of the monument.
